Work and Travel Ireland

The following constitutes the terms and conditions of contract for the 12 month Work permit between you and USIT Ireland Ltd. and is subject to such terms and conditions of carriage of any other suppliers. Please read the details carefully Agreement: when you make an application, you accept the terms and conditions of the agreement between you and USIT. The laws of the Republic of Ireland apply to this agreement.

  1. I am at least 18 years of age
  2. I am a U.S. citizen currently studying and residing in the United States.
  3. I am enrolled in a full time college or university course of minimum 3 years duration at a U.S accredited college or university or I graduated less than 12 months ago. To the best of my knowledge, I am eligible for the Work in Ireland Program.
  4. If my last period of study in the US was in the Spring Semester, I will begin participation in the Work in Ireland program by arriving in Ireland no later than my date of graduation.
  5. I will provide proof of my student status through a copy of my tuition fees bill, official ID card or transcript.
  6. I understand that the Irish embassies and consulates have final say in my eligibility for the 12 month working holiday and USIT cannot interfere or override their decisions.
  7. I understand that it is my responsibility to ensure that I comply with the passport, visa and health requirements of my destination and of any stop-over points. I understand that it is recommended that my passport be valid for at least 12 months after the end of my 12 month work permit. Full name as on passport must be used on the application form and in subsequent enquiries relating to your application.
  8. I understand that I must receive the following documents prior to my departure from the US Letter of Eligibility(work permit issued by the Irish embassy or consulate of the United States of America), participant handbook, and accommodation vouchers. I understand that I am responsible for finding my own job and housing and that Work & Travel Ireland/USIT are in no way responsible for my work/accommodation arrangements. Failure to find suitable employment /accommodation will not render me eligible for a refund if I must shorten my trip for any reason. I have noted on my application the exact date that I would like my work period to begin (in the space called "Expected Arrival Date in Ireland").
  9. I have made copies of this application, including this page, for my personal records.
  10. I recognize that any false declaration or the submission of inaccurate documents will result in the forfeiture of a place in the Work in Ireland program, with no entitlement to a refund of any program fees or other expenditures. Only complete and correct application forms which are accompanied by the additional information as specified in the how to apply page and the receipt confirmation email can be accepted.
  11. I understand that I am subject to local laws and regulations during my Work In Ireland program and that if I break any local laws during my stay overseas I can be subject to local disciplinary and judicial procedures and this will, without exception, render me invalid for participation in the WII program. USIT hereby reserve the right to withdraw the services here under should I fail to comply with local laws, regulations or any of the terms and conditions of the Work In Ireland Program.
  12. I understand that my work authorisation is valid only for the duration stated on my GNIB card. I agree to abide by the program conditions and agree to leave Ireland or to return to the US at the end of the program.
  13. I understand that the application process takes approximately 8 weeks from the date Work & Travel Ireland receives my complete application. Any changes in personal details or address while my application is being processed must be notified to Work & Travel Ireland immediately. Work & Travel Ireland will not issue Letter of Eligibility and documents until all required application documents have been received.
  14. I understand that I must submit my documents to the Irish embassy or consulate of The United States of America minimum 6 weeks prior to my departure. Work In Ireland/USIT cannot be held responsible for delayed work permits issued by the Embassy or consulates.
  15. Program and insurance fees quoted on this website are valid as of the time of input, but are subject to change at any time without notice. The program fee payable by me will be confirmed at the time of processing my application.
  16. Registration and Payment: When you register on line for the Work in Ireland Program, your completed registration form must be accompanied by the non-refundable program fee of $430 and must be made by one of the agreed methods - Credit Card (Visa or Mastercard) to make this agreement binding.
  17. The receipt of your online application does not indicate final approval either by Work & Travel Ireland or USIT or the Embassies or consulates of the United states of America.
  18. Payment: Program fees are subject to penalties if the applicant cancels or changes the program application.
  19. Cancellation Conditions: I understand that if I cancel from the program the program fee of $430 is non-refundable. If I have not been accepted on the program a fee of $100 will apply.
  20. I understand that I must be adequately insured to participate in this program. Insurance can be booked through the Work in Ireland Program at time of application. An insurance policy is mandatory for all participants on the program. If I want to cancel my insurance bought on the website, it is only permitted within 14 days of my online application being received. Beyond this date, no refund will apply. Should I wish to purchase alternative insurance, I must submit an insurance indemnity form at the time of application and pay the required alternative insurance administration fee. I understand that I must be covered from the day I depart the US until the day I return to the US.
  21. If I want to re-apply to the program I must have returned home and been a full-time university student for one complete academic year.
  22. USIT WORK AND TRAVEL IRELAND Liability:
    • We do not accept any responsibility in any way for any accident, illness, loss of personal effects or change in personal circumstances arising at any time prior to or during the program.
    • Work And Travel Ireland does not source jobs or accommodation. We are not responsible for any breach of contractual conditions between employer and participant, and any legal rights or redress the participant may have should be directed to their employer and are subject to the laws of Ireland.
    • Bookings are made through us strictly on the basis that in any case of error or negligence on our part, our liability shall be limited to a maximum of twice the price of the travel arrangements booked. This contract shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of Ireland and the parties hereby submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
    • It is your responsibility to ensure that you comply with passport, visa and health requirements of your destination and of any stop-over points and that you carry the necessary documentation. Any non-compliance and any resulting damage is your sole responsibility.
    • Letter of Eligibility/Work permit The issuance of your Letter of Eligibility is at the discretion of USIT and the Irish Embassy in Washington. We cannot accept any responsibility should you not be granted a Letter of Eligibility. You are responsible for applying for your own 12 month permit from the Irish embassy or consulate. USIT can provide assistance but cannot intervene in their decisions.
    • Orientation You will be required to attend mandatory orientation session as part of your application process.
    • Work Authorisation The issuance of your subsequent final Work Authorisation is at the discretion of the Garda National Immigration Bureau( GNIB). We cannot accept any responsibility should you be refused by the GNIB.
    • Complaints We do our best to ensure that your travel arrangements go according to plan. However in the unlikely event that you have a complaint arising from this booking, please let us know. Complaints together with relevant travel documents must be made in writing to USIT, Customer Services Dept, 19-21 Aston Quay, Dublin 2, Ireland.
