Health Care in South Africa

Health Care in South Africa

Are you interested in a career in the medical field? Are you studying to become a nurse or a doctor? Do you care about the wellbeing of others? If so, our Health Programme will enable you to gain access into a South African hospital which will no doubt be a very humbling and life changing experience for you. Volunteers are required to have some experience in the medical sector, but do not necessarily need to be qualified. You will be involved in every aspect of hospital activities including the weighing, counseling and testing of patients. You will also be able to observe professionals, but under no circumstances will you be operating on patients. Dispensing pills, talking to and comforting patients, office work, testing patients for HIV and TB – You will learn a wealth of knowledge and gain a true appreciation for what doctors, nurses and counselors do for their communities on a daily basis. You too could save lives

Health Care in South Africa Testimonial

As a newly qualified nurse, I wished to explore both the world and the opportunities available for my chosen career before embarking on full time work at home. After much consideration, I chose the 3 week healthcare project in South Africa with USIT who helped organise the whole trip including flights, accommodation and our volunteering placement. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone considering a stepping stone for further volunteering, I know I personally have gained friends for life and experiences which i will never forget, and can't wait to start planning my next adventure.
