According to state government statistics per thousand 65 children cannot complete their 3 years of their birth anniversary; majority of them are girls.

Details of tasks

Project 1: Helping disadvantaged children (Slum Dwelling children, Children working as labourers and rag-picking kids).

  • Identifying non school going children, running bridge course to prepare them for schooling
  • Teaching English, computer and general arithmetic in the required project areas
  • Family visit for creating awareness about importance of education, health hazards during rag picking and child labour
  • Organizing inspirational film shows & documentaries on various social issues related to children
  • Indoor and outdoor sports activities for making children more creative and vivacious
  • Organizing various campaigns for child rights
  • Preparation of paintings, posters, information charts and other materials that help in creative learning
  • Organizing picnic, excursion, child fair, zoo visit etc.

Project 2: Child care and pre-primary education (in slum areas)

  • Day to day care of underprivileged children aged below 5 years at special centers opened for poor and weaker section of society (Balwadi)
  • Beautification of Balwadi (special Child care centers), schools and other social gathering places
  • Monitoring of Infant Mortality Rate, growth indicators and nutritional supplements
  • Organising vaccination drives for the children in the day care centre.
  • Ensuring maximum attendance by the children of the area to these centers through awareness building in the community.
  • Assistance to the local worker for record maintenance for each child based on health, vaccination, growth and nutritional condition.
  • Continuous survey of all pregnant women and new born babies in the area for regular health check ups and vaccination.

Developing the motor skills of the little children by making them use their body parts in various games etc

 

Project 3: Women empowerment

  • Teaching conversational English, computer and general arithmetic for their day to day use
  • Family visits of women or adolescent girls for raising awareness
  • Care and preparation of case studies for women that have been victims of domestic violence or abandonment by their families
  • Morale boosting of women through fun activities, creative workshops or vocational training.
  • Imparting basic life skills specially for orphan adolescents
  • Take part in Rallies, poster & play cards preparation, handbill distribution related to various women issues
  • Female volunteers will be immensely helpful in imparting knowledge of family planning and sexual health as these issues are considered taboo in the conservative Indian society.
  • Help create awareness amongst women about their rights against excesses and issues like the dowry problem, alcoholism, domestic violence and dangers of HIV/AIDS etc.

Project 4: Orphanage Assistance

  • Helping children with homework
  • Conversational and written English teaching

  • Helping slower learning children

Project 5: Working with Special needs children
Teaching English, general arithmetic to those who are able to learn
Preparation of teaching learning materials according to the children's special needs
Family visits for creating greater sensitivity and greater interest amongst parents for the education of their children.
Counselling for their confidence building
Help in organizing picnics, excursions and other educational visits
Help in organizing health check ups
Help in organizing various indoor and outdoor games of which they capable of
Identifying their areas of interest and helping them in improving skills
Morale boosting of teachers through cooperation and appreciation.
Specially educated volunteers can carry out improvements in the curriculum in cooperation with the teachers.
Training of music, paintings and other fine arts to which they are capable of
Training of vocational skill like weaving, carpentry etc.
Preparation of individual case studies for maintaining records of their progress
Help in celebration birthday and other social occasions for them so that they never feel that they are lacking something in comparison to normal children
