Surf and Adventure Club Project

The Surf Adventure Club programme takes underprivileged children off the streets and teaches them valuable life lessons in the form of sports, adventure activities, team work and educational classes. These activities assist in keeping the children off the streets. The Adventure Club is for children from disadvantage areas. Our surf project offer extramural activities at the club as a way for the children to learn life lessons and stay off the streets. The club focuses on swimming and surfing lessons, but the kids also take part in other activities like hiking and sand boarding. Volunteers receive free surfing lessons so they can help teach the children how to surf. The children who live in the local township do not have access to sports clubs and coaches who can teach them the sports. Children in the program range from 12 to 14 years old. Each week groups of 5 to 20 kids are involved in the club's programs. This is a great way for you to gain experience working with children and groups, and learn new outdoor activities like surfing. The program is run after school hours, 3 to 5 days a week. During school hours volunteers can help on one of The Surf Adventure club's other programs in a settlement or in a school teaching computer skills. The program is run as a weekly extramural activity for a disadvantaged school with the main focus on surfing, adventure activities and sport such as: • Surfing • Sand boarding • Mountain hikes • Swimming • Soccer • Team building • Computer classes • Workshops • Beach clean ups
