US Grad Visa Program Open For 2017! Here’s What You Need To Know

The waiting is over, the dream lives on, the time to start planning is now!

We are delighted and excited to announce that we are now accepting applications for Irish graduates to spend a life-changing year, living and working in some of the world’s biggest and best cities!

See yourself following Tom out to New York for a year? What about getting a job in the world’s best hospitality sector in San Diego like Alan did? It could all be ahead of you, this is what you need to know…

This Is My Dream, Am I Eligible?

All that hard work in achieving your degree is about to pay off! The US Graduate Visa programme is open to recent graduates from any recognised third level college who have recently graduated (must enter the US within 12 months of graduation date) or those expecting to graduate in 2017.

How Can I Apply For The US Grad Visa Programme 2017?

You can apply online right here.

At this point, we need to collect all of your contact details, your qualification plus a letter verification from your college and your passport details into our system.

Finally, you will need to make your first payment (see below) to confirm and submit your application.

What Is Different From Last Year?

In short, very little. The Graduate Visa Program has already helped thousands of Irish students grow their life experience and career over the last number of years and 2017 will be no different.

What Are The Costs?

Total costs of the programme vary, depending on whether you want to settle on the East or West Coast but you can view our costs breakdown here.

I Haven’t Finished My Degree Yet, Can I Still Apply?

Yes, if you’re in your final year and expect to graduate you can apply now. However, you will not be able to travel until you have finished your degree and received your final grade. You can travel before your graduation ceremony.

How Do I Look For Internships?

The Grad Visa Programme is the most flexible way to work and travel in the US as you can spend up to 90 days to find a position once you get out there.

It also gives you the flexibility to change both employer and city if you want to experience more than one internship and location.

Prospecting roles can seem daunting at the start but using the tools available to you like LinkedIn, our jobs database and being proactive in sending your CV to suitable employers will give you the best chance of securing your dream role in the States.

These few websites are also great starting points.

Are There Any Restrictions On Where I Can Go?

No, all 50 states are eligible including Alaska and Hawaii!

What Are The Best Destinations To Get Set Up?

Unsurprisingly, New York is the very heartbeat of the American Dream. While the cost of living, especially in Manhattan, can be high the job prospects for Irish graduates are really strong. Just ask Sean!

San Francisco is another incredibly popular and fruitful destination for participants on the Grad Visa. These are just two of our most popular destinations and you can research the rest here.

A final word to Texas, which is absolutely booming at the minute and a great alternate destination for Grads to find a life changin internship and city to live in.
