Best Brunch Spots in Sydney & Melbourne

Best Brunch Spots in Sydney & Melbourne

4 min read

We’ve sent thousands of you to Australia over the past few years and have gotten your feedback on the best brunch spots to hit up in Sydney and Melbourne on a budget. Although the brunch possibilities are almost endless, we’ve come up with our top 3 for each city. Ireland may have finally caught up with the brunch phenomenon, but it’s clear the Ozzies beat us to the mark a long time ago.

Sydney

1 Abercrombie Lane, Sydney

Number one on our list is 1 Abercrombie Lane and if you’ve already been here, you’ll know why!

Located down a side street in the Central Business District in Sydney, it provides a nice break from the bustling streets. They have a modern, quirky menu and with everything homemade you know you’re going to get a fresh, tasty brunch. Their coffee is also nothing short of amazing and in the last few months they’ve started using an app (called ‘Skip’) which lets you order your coffee in advance so you can grab it on the go!

John Montagu

Second on our list has to be John Montagu. Named after the inventor of the sandwich, this place definitely lives up to its name! As you may have guessed, this little cafe specialises in handcrafted sandwiches and they’re so good they’ll keep you coming back for more! They also serve up a mean plate of eggs and bacon so if you feel that hangover settling in, you know where to go.

Playfair Café

Located beside Circular Quay, Playfair Café is the perfect place to grab a delicious and healthy brunch in Sydney. With such a huge variety of options on their menu this place genuinely has something for everyone, even that fussy friend (there’s always one)! The spacious outdoor seating area provides a relaxed vibe and with a coffee in hand, there’s really no better place to be. If you make it as far as Sydney, it’s a must-eat!

Melbourne

Roule Galette

First on our list for brunch spots in Melbourne is this charming French crêperie in the Central Business District, which is as close as you’ll get to the Parisian experience on this side of the world! With French speaking staff and music, the cafe has a cosy, intimate and wonderfully French atmosphere. It also serves both sweet and savoury crepes, making it the perfect place for brunch or just a sweet treat. You won’t be disappointed!

Cherry & Twigs

If you’re looking for a cute café with delicious food and a relaxed vibe, then Cherry & Twigs is the place for you. Brunch is the meal of the day here and with so many delicious options, your only concern will be which one to pick! The café is small and cosy and with so many locals coming through the doors, you can be assured its good.

Café Lafayette

Café Lafayette was always a top contender as one of our best brunch spots in Melbourne and for good reason. The best thing about this café is not its fantastic location beside Melbourne beach or even its creative latte art, but the fact that it serves breakfast all day, every day! I genuinely can’t imagine a better spot for brunch, or maybe even dinner? The possibilities are endless. The presentation of their food is incredible, from their French toast to their show-stopping shakes. Your inner child will love this place!
