Employer Spotlight: Deer Valley Resort Want More Irish Interns in Utah

Every time a US firm hires as Internship Visa participant, a new relationship is forged and it’s very often the case that employers will revert back to us looking for more graduates from these shores.

In the case of Deer Valley Resort, Utah they’ve not come back looking for one, but three new Irish graduates across Hospitality and Culinary Arts. Sound like your thing? Details and how to apply are below…

Hospitality Internship

learn every department within the rooms division and gain exposure and knowledge from scheduling staff based on business needs to learning room standards and performing inspections. Finally, the participants will be exposed to and learn the Food and Beverage department of the lodge and gain exposure and knowledge from shadowing the Chef.

Start Date: November 1-November 20, 2017

End Date: April 8th, 2018

Required Qualifications: Ability to multi-task, good English comprehension and communication, strong guest service experience a plus, comfortable in high guest exposure.

Pay $10.50-$12/hour

Hours: minimum 32 per week

Housing We have Dorm style housing available with 2-3 roommates, which are located in Park City and are on a free bus line.  The resort is within 2 miles of the resort.  There is a deposit of $350.00 which $300.00 will be returned at the end of the season if the room is cleaned and acceptable upon departure.  The cost is $12-$14 dollars a day, depending on the number of roommates and is a payroll deduction (For all internships).

Culinary Arts Internship

Training Length: 6 months

Training Details: The participants will learn all the necessary skills required to operate all aspects of the day and night restaurants and banquet operations. The goal for the participant is to enhance the techniques and skills, provide guidance to entry level chefs, build their confidence level, and learn to produce at a large volume- fast paced operation. Participants will advance their skills of teaching and delegating to other chefs, and advance their skills in food prep and recipes to meet and exceed the high standard of the restaurants.

Start Date: November 13-November 27, 2017
End Date: April 8th 2018

Required Qualifications: Culinary training, basic cooking skills, fluent in English, possess own knives and have basic knife skills.

Pay: $11/hour

Hours: minimum 32 per week

Baking and Pastry Internship

Training Length: 6 months

Training Details: Participants will learn the necessary skills to operate the baking and pastry kitchen in the morning and night. Participants are responsible for production and display of baked goods and pastries for restaurants and banquets. The emphasis is on quality, appearance and service. Participants will assist with supervision of Bakery Counter Attendants and Level I Bakers to help them learn their job.

Start Date: November 20-November 27, 2017
End Date: April 8th, 2018

Required Qualifications: Culinary training or degree with a specialty in baking and pastry arts, or 3+ years of professional and verifiable baking experience.

Pay: $11/hour

Hours: minimum 32 per week
