Know your gegen-pressing from your false nine’s? If you’re football mad and love working with youth teams then we promise you, you’re about to become very excited about USIT’s Soccer Academy 2017. Here’s everything you need to know…
Sounds amazing, am I eligible?
We’re looking for some of Ireland’s most passionate sporting degree students aged between 18-30 who want unparalleled experience in their field while getting to travel throughout camps across the US from California to Texas and New York.
Minimum requirements to apply are any third level qualification in Physical Education from Ireland and an FAI Level 1 Coaching Certificate.
If you’re a past Soccer Camp participant with USIT and want to go for longer this time (we don’t blame you) then we want to hear from you too!
The more experience you have of coaching youth teams at any level, the more likely your application will be successful. you’ll also need a full clean driver’s licence.
How much does the program cost?
Already thinking this is a dream job? It actually gets better! As we’ve mentioned, along with our partners Challenger, we are looking for a high standard of coaches to place in the US and if you’re successful your flights, insurance, accommodation, transport, visa and coaching equipment will ALL BE PAID FOR!
Not only that but you’ll also receive a weekly salary for your 30-hours a week and have time to enjoy all the sights and sounds across the US.
When will the Soccer Academy run?
We are now accepting applications to begin from Feb/Mar 2017 right through until Oct/Nov with the opportunity to do some exploring of your own before Christmas.
I want to apply, how do I do it?
It all starts here with a submission of your CV along with completion of our online application form. In addition, we are holding mandatory Assessment Days in Dublin and Limerick from the 6th Oct which you can register for here.
What does the Assessment Day involve?
Firstly, we want to see how you run passing, fitness and other technical drills and how you interact with a training group. It’s also an opportunity to show off your own footballing talents but the focus is on the coaching aspect so don’t worry if you’re touch is a tad rusty…
We’ll also be conducting interviews with each candidate to learn more about your passion for the game and why you think you’d be a great coach in the US.
What is it like going to Soccer Camp?
New surroundings and new kids every week, stepping out of your comfort zone, staying with amazing host families and come home armed with enviable experience both for your career and your sense of adventure. Don’t take it from us, here’s Fintan on his Soccer Camp USA summer…
Who can I sweet talk to get into the Soccer Academy?
The main man for all things Soccer at USIT is Gary Quinn, himself a past Coach in California. Want to find out more about the Academy or the shorter Soccer Camp USA Program? Drop him a line firstname.lastname@example.org.
