Work and travel in Canada

The mountains called. They said: why work at home when you could be living and working in waterfront Vancouver or on the slopes in Banff?

The Canada visa pool is now open! Floaties optional.

Why work and travel in Canada?

There’s a reason why Canada routinely ranks as one of the most liveable places in the world. And by extension, one of the most workable. The work-life balance is insane – with barefoot summers, big foot winters and plenty of year-round jobs up for grabs in the cities and on the slopes. Plus, Irish passport holders can work for two years until they’re 35.

Need to know before you go

When to go

Canada may be known for its winters, but its best kept secret are the summers. Home to some of the world’s best skiing and ski jobs in Nov-Mar, those same resorts become summer playgrounds for hikers and bikers in Jun-Sep – bringing with it more hospitality jobs. The waterfront cities of Toronto and Vancouver also come into their own in summer – with beach swims and rooftop tans.

What it pays

The minimum wage differs per province, with Alberta, Ontario and British Columbia all around CAD $15, plus tips where applicable. Our winter and summer season employers pay between $15-21/hour and include subsidised staff accommodation and great perks such as discounted lift passes. With career and construction jobs in the towns and cities paying considerably more.

Where to go

Most working holidaymakers choose to fly into Vancouver or Toronto, where we include accommodation and job support (Ultimate package only). If you’ve pre-arranged a seasonal job with us, you can then head out to the resorts. But your working holiday visa allows you to work anywhere, with cities like Edmonton, Québec, Calgary, Montreal all offering a great food, music and arts scene.
